Watercolours

I’m uploading some watercolours from a painting module at uni that I did, they’re based around scientific close-ups of nerve cells and veins. I tried to abstract what I saw so it could stand for art in it’s own right. Hope you enjoy!IMG_1055IMG_1056IMG_1057

Art

Just wanted to do a quick introduction to my artwork and sketches. As an art student at Newcastle University I specialise in dip ink drawings. I include some sketches of internal organs such as lungs and hearts and muscle tissue line drawings. My own interest in internal organs stems from a love of medical illustrations, particularly renaissance. I love the functionality coupled with the beauty of them. In my own work I try to abstract illustrations I see and compile them into one. I also love the idea of a microcosm in a macrocosm, of things relating to seemingly unrelated subjects. Blood spots on internal organs always look like galaxies to me, like a tiny world within a world.Nature always seems to repeat different patterns beautifully. Nerve endings morph into roots, the beginnings of our blood ties and identities. Anyway before I ramble any more here are some photos of my sketches, enjoy!IMG_1067IMG_1068IMG_1069IMG_1071IMG_1072IMG_1073IMG_1074IMG_1076IMG_1065IMG_1066
